  • This really needed to be up a a few days ago. Windows 7 64 bit has finally been installed on my computer. Turns out there was an issue unpacking the 64 bit version on a 32 bit version of Vista where it would unpack, try to run, then give you an error message. After about an hour of digging through forums someone finally came up with a solution.

After getting the ISO created, I decided to try out another program someone recommend, WinToFlash and make one of my thumb drives bootable with Windows 7 on it. The program was easy to use and straightforward on how to convert and ISO file to a bootable file for your thumb drive.

As of one o’clock am this morning. I received my email from win741.com and digitalriver.com. Letting me know that my pre-order of my student copy for Windows 7 was ready for download.

After downloading their download manager and my copy of Windows began to download, I headed to bed. Waking up to what I thought was a ready-to-be-installed file of Windows 7. I was met with disappointment. The file began to unpack itself only to bring up an error message towards the very end. Not getting to worked up, I deleted the files and tried to unpack one more time. Still no luck.

Deleted the entire directory, went back to the website and began downloading once again. This time to the default location (Hey, it’s a microsoft product. Maybe it doesn’t like custom save points, wouldn’t be the first time) After the download I again saw the same error message. Trying to browse their website has been zero help for tech support on my situation. So here I am, trying one more time to download the file through their manager. With hopes that maybe someone has reported the problem and they fixed the package.

    Here is to hoping!
